With the opinion polls tightening, the estimated 2.5 million Britons living abroad may well swing the result of the forthcoming General Election. If you have friends and family living abroad now is the time to get them to register to vote – overseas registrations need to be submitted by 1 April 2010 to allow enough time for post, etc. ahead of the election. So please pass this message on straight way.
Every British citizen who has been registered to vote in the UK within the last 15 years is eligible to vote in UK Parliamentary
(general) elections and European Parliamentary elections in the UK.If you were too young to register when you left the UK, you can still register as an overseas voter so long as your parent or guardian was registered to vote in the UK and you left the UK within the last 15 years.
